During the autumn term, Year 4 have linked their History and English study when learning about Ancient Greek life, covering topics such as democracy, the Olympics, the Battle of Marathon and the Trojan War, and Greek myths & legends. Writing has included a Greek hero persuasive text, a comparative discussion and a mythical quest story.
Later in the term, our focus will be upon the legacy of the Romans, when a visitor workshop is scheduled and a visit to Jewry Wall museum planned.
In Maths, Year 4 began the term by focusing on number and place value, before moving onto addition & subtraction, and multiplication & division.
Please help and encourage your child/children to learn all of their times tables – it will help them enormously to tackle the maths challenges of Year 4 and beyond.
The first science topic to be covered this year will be ‘Animals, including humans’. A visit to Bennion Pools will support the learning about food chains and human impact connected with this topic.
In ICT, Year 4 have been taking on the role of co-authors when creating a Wikipedia page around Ancient Greek life.
