Beaumont Lodge Primary School

Year 5 Learning

Below are some of the learning experiences your child has been involved in this year.  Why not talk to them about these experiences and find out what your child learnt?

Mosaic Art

In Art, Year 5 enjoyed learning about Roman mosaics and the work of Antoni Gaudí. They have experimented with different styles of mosaic and materials. The children created some fantastic pieces using the trencadis technique used by Gaudi in his work.

Fire Brigade Workshop

The children enjoyed a workshop led by the Leicestershire Fire Brigade Service. They learnt about how to spot potential dangers and fire risks around their homes and how to create an effective fire escape plan. The children also learnt about the dangers of arson and the potential consequences for property and people.

NSPCC Workshop

To support our learning in PSHE, the children took part in a workshop delivered by the fantastic ladies from the NSPCC. The children completed a range of activities about Buddy and how to keep themselves safe.

Jewry Wall Trip

Year 5 enjoyed a fabulous trip to the Jewry Wall museum. They had an amazing time dressing up as Romans, exploring the ruins of the Roman bath and taking part in an artefact handling workshop. The children enjoyed using the interactive activities and reading about the history of the Romans in Leicester.
