The DfE have recently reinforced the need “to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.”
At Beaumont Lodge we look at what British Values mean to us through our topic work (in particular within RE and PSHE lessons but in other lessons too) and through assemblies which focus at different times on each of the key British Values. In addition to this we also have focused curriculum days during the school year. Tolerance and respect are values which are reinforced regularly within our school. We want our school community to be proud of their nation and understand how they can contribute as effective citizens.
To find out more about how British Values are taught at Beaumont Lodge please follow the link to our British Values summary page. You will also find there our pages on SMSC (spiritual, moral, social and cultural) development which we feel link closely with our British Values.
