The children loved sharing their learning with their parents and significant adults. They were excited to show off their written work on display in the classroom.

Year 5 enjoyed painting using watercolour to create some beautiful winter animals for our whole school display. The children used a range of techniques to create their paintings.

Year 5 enjoyed their experience day learning how to
understand and support each other’s mental health and created this fabulous collaborative piece of artwork in celebration of how our individuality can join us together and reflect our togetherness as a class.
Year 5 have enjoyed creating their artwork using a range of different mediums. We looked and discussed the work of abstract artist Peter Thorpe and tried to create our own abstracts.
This term the children have been taking part in gymnastics and have developed their skills using the equipment to showcase their balances, climbs and strength and their nerves of steel!
Mosaics
In our history topic we have been learning about the Romans and their time impact on Britain. The children learnt about the processes involved in creating decorative mosaics and had the opportunity to create their own version using a nature inspired design.
Science
We have used our prior learning about volcanoes to help us write fantastic newspaper reports about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and the destruction of Pompeii.
English
The children have created amazing writing this term showcasing their narrative skills when writing an alternative ending for our Pompeii text.

Mental Health Awareness Day
On Mental Health Awareness Day, we spent some time exploring what mental health is. We discussed the difference between a positive and negative mental health.
The children enjoyed a peaceful afternoon learning how we can look after our own mental health through a range of activities. We spent some time painting images from a fabulous book by Charlie Mackesy.
