In our history topic we have been learning about the Romans and their time impact on Britain. The children learnt about the processes involved in creating decorative mosaics and had the opportunity to create their own version using a nature inspired design.
In our Geography lessons we have been exploring the spread of the Roman empire and their invasion of England. We have used our map reading skills to plot Roman roads and cities and the children were fascinated to learn that Fosse Way was a key route for moving troops and supplies.
We have used our prior learning about volcanoes to help us write fantastic newspaper reports about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and the destruction of Pompeii.
The children have created amazing writing this term showcasing their narrative skills when writing an alternative ending for our Pompeii text.
Year 5 have enjoyed sharing their books with each other using our book review system and reading worm.
Mental Health Awareness Day
On Mental Health Awareness Day, we spent some time exploring what mental health is. We discussed the difference between a positive and negative mental health.
The children enjoyed a peaceful afternoon learning how we can look after our own mental health through a range of activities. We spent some time painting images from a fabulous book by Charlie Mackesy.
