I was responsible for setting up (2009) & running (until 2018) the Right to Read program between PepsiCo & Beaumont Lodge. Over the years I have become a familiar face around school through my regular school visits (fortnightly) to listen to the children read.

Why did you become a governor?

Every time I visit Beaumont Lodge, I feel welcomed by staff & students. The children are always very polite & want to learn. The staff at school work exceptionally hard to provide a safe environment for the children to be happy, make friends & learn & I wanted to contribute towards the positive ethos the school continues to emit.

As part of this project I have been a sports and intervention coach here at Beaumont Lodge Primary School for the last 4 years.

Governance experience

I am quite new to supporting on the governing body of Beaumont Lodge Primary School and I am looking to extend my knowledge with regards to how a school runs but I also am looking to support the school through opportunities we can provide at Leicester City in the Community

Hobbies and interests

I love to coach football and run a grassroots under 7’s team, it makes me really happy seeing the children enjoy and develop their skills within a fun and exciting environment.

The schools I work in are in close proximity to each other so I am predominantly based in the Beaumont Leys area. After working in this school for a number of years and having created a great rapport with the children I was asked to become a governor.

Why did you become a governor?

I think the links I have with Leicester City FC can provide opportunities for children and the school to enhance their experiences and provide interventions in which may add to their existing learning.

Why did you become a governor?

I still love to learn and highly value education - the possibilities it can open up are endless. I am impressed by the learning at Beaumont Lodge and commitment of the staff. I hope to support the school in the role of Governor by offering positive ideas and a parent's perspective.

Work

I am the Deputy head teacher and Year 6 teacher at Beaumont Lodge Primary School. I joined the Beaumont Lodge team in 2006 as a newly qualified teacher.

Governance experience

I am a governor at a county infants school, where I hold the position of Chair of Governors.  I joined the Governing Body at Beaumont Lodge after being a governor elsewhere as I feel I have transferrable skills that may support the governing body.

Hobbies and interests

I have 2 amazing children (aged 5 and 10) who keep me busy with trips to the museums, parks and crafting.  We love Disney films, so are often at the cinema for the latest releases! I love reading books- especially children’s books, which I then turn into scrapbook reviews.

I have lived in Leicester since I was 11 years old.  After qualifying as a teacher in Nottingham, I  moved back to Leicester and began to work at Beaumont Lodge Primary School in 2006.  I love the school so much that many years later – I am still working here! I love the Beaumont Lodge community.  I am lucky to teach and be a part of each child’s learning journey as learn, develop, enjoy and succeed at Beaumont Lodge.

Why did you become a governor?

The role of governor is different to my role in school.  It means that I can be supporting the school, which I am very committed to, in a different way.  I am very proud to be a part of the Beaumont Lodge team.
